Starting Under Saddle

Starting any horse is getting them familiar and trusting about being handled by humans.  Building on that trust to where they are accepting of saddles and tack to teaching them the aids that are required to ride and control the horses actions.  Then we expose the horse to a large variety of different situations and environments which in turn installs confidence in the horse.

At the completion of your horses stay your horse will be able to perform the following:
- be confident when being handled, touched all over
- be good at having feet picked up
- be happy to be saddled, i.e. stands still to be saddled
- be happy and relaxed about being bridled etc
- stand still to be mounted
- will walk, trot, canter on a casual rein in a relaxed fashion
- be happy about taking contact with the bit (but not heavy)
- will understand leg yield, side pass etc
- will perform turn on forehand and turn on haunches
- can trot circles evenly, canter circles depending on size, age of horse etc
- can be ridden down to river in company and on own in relaxed manner

There is the opportunity to have on-going lessons with Scott to help the rider with their newly started horse, this is hugely beneficial to the success of their future.
